A SYNTATICAL ANALYSIS OF PHRASES USED IN JOSH GROBAN SONG LYRICS

This study is about a syntactic analysis on sentences in the song lyrics of Josh Groban by using tree diagram theory. Thus, aims this are (1) To find out types phrases used (2) sentence patterns lyrics. The object which entitled “You Raise Me Up”. method qualitative analysis. technique collecting data 3 steps. steps are: preparing and organizing, coding, (3) representing data. Finally, findings as follows; there phrases, they 7 Noun Phrase (NP), 9 adverbial (AP), verb (VP). There lyrics, are; S = N+VP S1+Conj.+S2 (S1 N+V, S2 N+VP) N+VP,
